Hello,

My name is Paul Collins. I am a 26 year-old graduate of New Media &
English. I completed my degree in Ireland at the University of Limerick in
2010 with first-class honours.

I'm posting here to express my interest in launching my career as a
technical writer. I am seeking a trainee role in Australia from January
2014. At the moment, I live in the UK. However, entry-level opportunities
in technical writing are scarce here. For this reason, I wish to relocate
to Australia to develop my skills.

I am seeking a sponsoring employer, willing to offer a trainee role over a
two year period. I would receive structured and progressive training to
become a competent technical writer. This would benefit both myself and the
employer. I would work at a lower entry-level rate. Also, by the end of my
training I would aim to be an efficient and important member of staff who
may offer his skills to the company through future opportunities. The
Trainee Visa is a largely underused Australian visa and is quite
inexpensive.

I am taking part in courses and workshops to increase my familiarity with
various software, as well as to enhance the skills acquired in my
university education. I will continue these between now and January. This
would provide me with a solid foundation from which to build once I begin
my training in Australia.

I understand that an employer may see the organisation of such a visa as
much effort, but most of the work would be organised from my end. I believe
that technical writing is quite a specialised profession and I know I will
become a valuable trainee and have much to offer an employer. However I do
need the opportunity to show my drive and potential through training.

It would mean a great deal to me if anybody here could offer some advice or
point me toward potential employers/traineeships.

I am completely determined and simply need an employer to offer me a chance
to learn. I have a level of drive, determination and work ethic that would
eventually make me an valuable asset to any company.

Thanks for reading guys!

Paul.
