Hi All: I've recently seen several ads (or the same ad several times) for tw's with current security clearance. I'm wondering about the mentality of the employers behind these positions. Obviously, they restrict their potential pool to the presumably small number of writers with such clearance, which effectively creates a closed-shop. The ads implicitly assume that there is a sufficient pool of unemployed people in this closed shop to satisfy demand, since there is an implication that clearance cannot be acquired in the same way that -- say -- my police clearance was acquired before I started my last two jobs in the health and welfare sectors: if you don't already have it, you can't get it. Are these ads just fakes, placed because of whatever bureacratic requirements, but designed to remove all except those who have already been selected for the job?
