No need for commiserations as far as I'm concerned.
The fewer people who come here the better. 

I had to chuckle at the fact that part of what the
ex-pat English community liked about Melbourne was the
weather!! 

I grant you that Perth does lack mountains and snow
fields within thousands of km, but I love the river,
hills and especially the beaches.
