Hi AusTechies. The “1990s” technology did comment sting. So I just created
an AusTechWriter team in Slack, the “messaging app for teams”, for us to
flirt with another social media option. Perhaps the relationship will
blossom this time. J
Interested?
· If you’re already a Slack user, join team austechwriter.
· If you’re not, go to https://austechwriter.slack.com.
When you join, you’ll get the chance to download an app if you want to.
· I may send invitations directly to a tiny handful of you whom
I’ve actually met.
· Slack help: https://austechwriter.slack.com/help.
I’m quite new to Slack myself, since my company started using it very
recently, but I see the potential.
· Communication is in “Channels”, chat rooms in the team.
· You can set up your own channels, which can be private or
public.
· You send messages (chat) within a channel, or privately (direct
to another person).
The two default conversations are #general and #random.
See you there. J
Cheers,
Nick

Look at us! We are still communicating using a “list”…the same technology
we were using when we first got the internet. We flirted with Ming and a
few other options, but the reality is that human beings just don’t
communicate well using social media style products. So we stick with 1990s
technology.
