Don't get me wrong, Elizabeth. I'm not trying to say that Word is crap, just that it - and the Microsloth WinDoze GUI operating environment / shell over DOS, have their limitations. There are fundamental operating paradigm differences between a page based word processing application and an object oriented desktop publishing application, just as there are fundamental differences in what output is achievable with a computer running PostScript drivers and fonts (from the display right through to printing output device) and one that does not. Or did you miss the part where I wrote: "That aside, I use Word every day and like it for what it does well.". This was not meant to be a Word-bashing exercise, just a discussion amongst colleagues about the appropriateness of certain tools for certain jobs and whether it is advisable to overpromise to clients, given the tools that we have at hand and the ease with which our precious Word files can be corrupted if we push Word that bit too far.
