I am faced with a similar situation. The previous documentation was
written by an NESB (non-English speaking background)  person, and
statements such as "<Product name> is a full-featured software" seem
perfectly okay to the management from the same NESB.  I am told to just
update the information. I have resorted to sneaking in re-writes, chapter
by chapter, on the grounds of `improving the typography and layout`,
which is something that IS noticed.
