Hi Andrew,

Thank you for these instructions.  This is my first try at using audacity
with a usb turntable.  I have a lot to learn.  Thanks again for your help.

Hi Gary

This is the antithesis of your earlier problem.  Whereas you don't want NVDA
to try to use the turntable as the sound card, you do want Audacity to do
so.

The following is written with no prior experience of a USB turntable, but I
am reasonably confident that my knowledge of other USB devices will suffice.
Apologies if some or all of what follows is stuff you knew already:

1.      Make sure that the turntable is connected and is turned on before
launching Audacity.
2.      Press shift-control-f6.  That will take you from the tracks view to
the section at the top of the screen which offers numerous settings.
3.      Shift-tab until you reach Playback Device.  Assuming that is set to
your usual sound card, leave as is.
4.      Shift-tab once more and make sure that recording channels is set to
two (stereo).
5.      Shift-tab once more to Recording Device.  Use up and down arrows
until you find your turntable.
6.      Press control-f6 to get back to the tracks view.

Andrew

Subject: [audacity4blind] settings in audacity

Hi All,

I would like to know if there are any settings that need to be changed in
audacity so I can monitor the sound from my new usb turntable?  I am using
the latest audacity and nvda.  Thanks for any help.

Regards, Gary kn4ox
