What setting are you changing and to what? If you record a tape, you may be
using the line-in option. What are you using to record from the computer? You
should look for an option like stereo mix or what you hear, it may have other
names as well, depending on the sound card, or it may not be there at all. Or
you should use loop back. I've almost nev er used loop back so I'm not sure
how you get to it. A llot of sound cards don't support stereo mix in Windows 7
and higher so you may have to use loop back.

Subject: [audacity4blind] recording problem with new computer
Hiall
If anybody can help me, I hope to hear from you.
I just got a new computer which uses Windows 7 and JAWS 18.
I have the latest JAWS and the jaws script for it.
I can record from a tape to MP3, but I can't record directly off the computer.
When I try, I get an error message I will try to duplicate.
Error opening device.
Try Adjusting audio host, recording device and sample rate.
I'm writing on a different computer so I can't acces that message as I write
you.
All that might as well be written in ancient Klingon for all the good it does
me.
How do I adjust any of those things?
None of them are listed under audacity preferences.
