Thanks, david. I'll definitely give this a try. Seems like the controls might be the same as in the one I tried, only with different names (the third control there was "speed" or something like that). The Killer Ring Modulator, which is the plugin I was playing around with last night, is supposed to be a really good one; I think it's several years old though so who knows...the man seemed to encourage contact so I'll give that a go as well.

Aren't you the fellow who wrote the Audacity for Jaws guide? Nicely done..I was looking at that over the last couple of days, too.

Quoting David Bailes <david_bailes@xxxxxxxxxxx>:

Hi,
there's a ring modulator plug-in which has edit boxes as well as sliders, and
it's available at:
http://forum.audacityteam.org/download/file.php?id=1631&sid=7c54dec38ee12e8c496af1cb14436e8e

The four edit boxes are:
- modulation frequency, in hertz
- amount, as a percent
- waveform: 0 for sine, 1 for triangular, 2 for sawtooth and 3 for pulse
- pulse bias, with range -100 to 100

there may be other accessible ring modulator plug-ins which other people on this
list are aware of. If you know who wrote the plug-in which you've tried, you
could try and contact them and suggest having better increments for the arrow
keys and the page up/down keys.

best wishes,
David.

Subject: [audacity4blind] new user of Audacity

Hello everyone.

I've been tinkering with sound editors for some time, but have always struggled

to find ones that will allow for much fine tuning, sselection and easy
manipulation without visual assistance. Until recently I was using goldwave
editor; generally a great programme with some strange quirks. I just decided to

try audacity and so far I am pretty impressed. I haven't had much time to play yet but I'm anticipating having considerable success with this software. Well
done, developers!

One thing that has struck me is the number of plugins available for studio
effects and so on. Most of them have easy to use controls which can be
manipulated with sliders or number entry, which I like. I recently got this
Killer Ring MOdulatorplugin because...well, I admit it, I want to create Dalek
voices! I'm finding though that I can't adjust the sliders to fine enough
increments. There's no field for number entry and the level of "notches" raised

or lowered by each press of the right or left arrow is too high. FOr example, if I want a root pitch of 0.004, the lowest I can get is 0.009, and going up to

0.019, etc, all the way to 9999 I believe.

Any ideas on how I can fix this? Hopefully I'm being clear enough...I'm still
pretty new to this stuff and have a lot to learn.
