If I copy an entire cassette, is there some way to get the info for that
cassette such as title and song titles with out typing in the information?

Hi David, welcome to the list!
You did the first step correctly, to open a new stereo track under the project menu (it sounds like you installed Audacity 1.2.4). That just opens a new stereo track, the next step is to initiate the recording process - do this simply by pressing the 'r' key on your computer keyboard.
To stop recording, press the space bar. To listen to what you've recorded, press the space bar again. To repeat playback (loop play), press the 'l' key.

I have my cable plugged in to my walkman, and into my laptop. I have Audacity open, I pressed enter on stereo tracks under the project menu.
