HI.
Didn’t see any move commands in the tracks menu, turned out I didn’t need to,
for what I wanted to do, but thought I would ask in case. What I wanted to do
was have some music and my voice speaking, It seemed to work ok.
I am using the screen reader version of audacity for the mac. If you do figure
out reaper, do let me know, it’s always good to have a few accessible editors
on hand.

Hi Maria!
The only issue here is that since accessibility is broke in the latest
official and nightly builds of Audacity we do not on Mac OS have access to
the context menu anymore. Hopefully this will be corrected some day.
If I was better at learning about audio editing, I would give Reaper a
serious try again, but every time I try I get stuck before I get too much to
work... I haven't got recording or editing to work yet, so have decided to
test again next year...
But I believe you can get to most of the options from the tracks menu, where
you can move tracks around.
Hope this helps.
Best regards Thomas

move tracks to make one the control track?
thanks again

Hi Maria.
Either in windows or mac, Audacity is a multitrack sound editor and
recorder.
To mix your voice with the music, it depends on what you want to do.
If you want to sing upon an instrumental peace, then you just need to
import your music into Audacity, have your microphone ready, press
record and then perform while listening back to your music.
By default Audacity is set to make it possible with no adicional
configurations.
However, if you intend to duck the music for your voice to appear upon a
peace of music, you can use the Autoduck feature. I don't know about
mac, but in windows, you do the following:
1: Have the music and voice in 2 separate tracks in Audacity.
2: On your track list, select and move your voice track down, in case it
appears further up.
Now, the voice track will serve as a control track.
3: Unselect the voice track and select the music track.
4: In the music track, select the portion of audio where the voice will
be mixed.
5: In the effects menu, choose Autoduck and press enter.
In case you want to adjust any of the parameters of the autoduck
feature, tab through the window and type or use your up and down arrows
to adjust your values.
Hope this helps.
