I have both Detect dropouts and sound activation unchecked.
I hope to get time to run a few more tests and do some more experimenting today.

The whole loopback thing is a mystery to me, as my mixer allows me to record
anything from anywhere. That said, I cannot imagine why silence would not be
recorded. The only possible setting within Audacity I can think of that would
cause silences not to be recorded is if sound activation were turned on. Can
you give more details of the configuration you are using.

What I'm wanting to do is record everything that's coming through the Internet
loopback, including the silence between sounds.
When I record with a microphone it does continue to record even when I'm not
speaking or there's no sound. I just can't get the same result when recording
from a loopback.
Is there a setting in preferences somewhere I'm missing?
