Does kerovee Change the octave without changing the tempo?
Just curious because, as you might guess, when you shift something down in
pitch an octave the timing will change a little so that the pitch shift seems
more natural.
Audacity has a "change tempo" effects function that doesn't change the timing
but does have some audio quality degradation because it doesn't deal with the
time difference to make complex tracks in the audio spectrum (like vocals or
other complicated instruments) seem most "natural".
The "change tempo" function in Audacity works great with rhythm tracks but not
with harmonically complex tracks.
I guess what I'm saying that is of most importance with regards to your
question is that, "you aren't going to find a way to shift an audio track with
complex harmonics without shifting the timing a bit unless you are willing to
give up a little bit of audio resolution." The timing will continually shift
throughout the tracks if you are using super high resolution (an expect super
high resolution in return).
Bestest,
David

Hey, friends, this is Justin Trevino. I have used kerovee to drop some vocals
down an octave. After applying this effect the vocals are delayed by a few
milliseconds. Rather than try and figure it out by ear, I'm hoping someone can
tell me just how much this effect delays the track so I can snip that amount of
time off the front of each track.
I'm not using audacity to record my project. I'm flying these tracks back in
to an alesis hd24 and it would make things a lot easier if they would line up
when I put them back in.
