Hi!

My name is Sharon Hooley. I've enjoyed playing with sound in the past, and
have recently installed Audacity, the latest stable version, according to the
website.

I consider myself just starting to learn about how digital audio concepts work,
so I might need a lot of help. First of all, I tried to record my voice with a
microphone that is attached to a headset, but it either did not record, or I
cannot hear it when I play back. I tried changing settings as suggested in the
FAQ page of the website, but the last time I tried recording again, Jaws says,
r, r, r, r, r, for both recording and playback. So, asside from making sure
that I'm plugged into the correct sound card jack, and making sure that my mic
switch is turned on, is there anything else I might check or change? Any help
would be much appreciated.

Thanks much, and I hope to learn a lot!

Come inside where it's cool!
