Ted, a man after my own heart. I have always crossfaded manually too,
partly because what Audacity used to call crossfading was something else.
The current crossfade facility is fast, but one does lose some control. The
important thing to keep in mind if doing it manually is to start bringing up
the level of the track being faded in before starting to pull down the level
of the fadeout track. Otherwise there will be a dip in the level. As they
point out in the manual, one needs to be careful of clipping if levels of
individual tracks are already high.

I don't use the effects. I manually cross-fade.

Hello. I have two tracks in my podcast. I want to start the outro a few
seconds before the actual podcast ends. How is this done? I'm thinking that
some one of the fading features would be used. Is this correct? If so, How
do you use these to greatest advantage? Thanks for any help you can give me.
