Hi Kate
Some years ago I was most excited when Audacity became accessible to VoiceOver.
Unfortunately, that access was short-lived. David, who is on this List and
who is a veritable Audacity expert, recently provided the link to a page with
the last accessible version of Audacity for the Mac:
https://www.fosshub.com/Audacity.html/audacity-macosx-ub-2.1.1-screen-reader.dmg.
I just checked out the page and find it rather bewildering. There is a link
to version 2.11, but no mention of a screen reader version.
Silly me had a copy of that version, but did not keep a copy after leaving a
job where I had access to a Mac (slaps wrist).
If you can find a copy of 2.11 screen reader version, it works reasonably well
with VoiceOver. I boldly assume it works on the current Mac OS.
My own bias is that there is rather more fun to be had with Audacity on Windows
with screen reader of choice, including Narrator. That assumes that you have
access to a Windows machine and are comfortable with a Windows screen reader.
There are (I hope still) people on the List who use Audacity on Macs. They can
give more detailed comments on limitations on the Mac.
Andrew

Subject: [audacity4blind] Hello and initial enquiry
Dear all,
Hello, I’ve just joined the list.
I need to use Audacity for editing audio to put together in to radio broadcast
packages. I’m a Mac user, and guess from the Audacity website, that this is
the worst sort of user to be for this software. Are other Mac users having
success with Audacity, or are people finding that a switch to Windows is
preferable?
Hope to hear from you soon.
Very best wishes,
Kate
