A couple of USB mixer is I am looking at purchasing for Christmas are:
The Yamaha AG03 or Yamaha AG06.
I currently use an USB audio interface made by M-Track.
The kind of microphone you decide to use is important as well. IQs a SHURE
SSM58 microphone.

Hi Rob
The short answer to “which headset connection (USB or 3.5mm headphone jack)
is better and has the least amount of latency” is “It depends…”
But now to expand on that not very helpful answer. Historically, internal
sound cards on Windows-based machines were often pretty nasty and that is
probably still the case. On this six year old machine the internal card
makes so much noise I only use it for the screen reader in emergency
situations. I cannot comment on recent USB headsets, but suspect sound
quality has improved. I wouldn’t be too concerned about latency, as that can
be adjusted for in Audacity.
A fringe benefit of a USB headset is that behaves like an extra sound card.
That means you can separate the screen reader’s speech output from what you
are recording. As others on this List have discovered, that brings its own
issues, but they are eminently resolvable.
Just to add more confusion, depending on your budget you might consider a
mixer with USB connectivity and connect a mic to that. You get increased
flexibility and almost certainly better sound than through an internal card.
Happy shopping. Others are likely to have more recent experience with
headset mics.

Subject: [audacity4blind] Headset Microphone Latency
I need a new headset with microphone and pop filter. But my first question
is which headset connection (USB or 3.5mm headphone jack) is better and has
the least amount of latency.
I would also like recommendations for a decent headset with microphone and
pop filter for a singer.
