These two workshops are tentatively scheduled from 8 to 11 Feb. We have not
had any time to discuss about the plan of sessions and structure of these
workshops. The HSTP resource teachers will be coming for the workshops. I
am also going to be around. Hopefully Madhav and Akanksha will also be
there. Right now they are visiting Pandharkavda and Kinvat PO offices and
schools. I will be in Dharni from 5 to 7 for the baseline pilot. It will
really help if we can brainstorm about these sessions over email. I had
thought of these points earlier- (however these are not based on any prior
experience).
1. Share Eklavya experience of "how to be a KRT" -
-what can be the structure of a one-day workshop that they will conduct in
their zone of 10 schools (with 20 teachers and one AFSP)?
-inputs on classroom management, logistics for toli-work, how they will
keep in touch with their group of 20 teachers, what are common problems
faced, identifying enthusiastic students, planning in advance,
sawaliram-type/question box
2. Ask their inputs on how to conduct a workshop for teachers of the 10
schools that is their responsibility.
3. Make a schedule for these workshops - noting down the possible clash
with exams or other duties.
4. Demo-class by each KRT. It need not be a complete one-hour class. Maybe
15 minutes. They get feedback and practice.
5. Do some experiments from chapters that they will teach from next term
and some that will be taught in February-March. Discussions about these
experiments and try to make them appreciate the finer points and nuances,
extensions etc.
6. Some reading material and short discussions - e.g. some articles from
Sandarbh such as "Kyu Karey Prayog"..
Lab-attendants workshop:
1. We get information from them about the status of labs (later this will
help for the lab status survey), if they are being used (A lab attendant at
Biju Dhavdi school told Madhav that mostly they are doing admin work), what
problems they face etc.
2. We get an idea of their educational backgrounds, experimental
capabilities, familiarity with different apparatus/setups.
3. We try to see how they can participate and contribute in the toli-work
in different classes.
4. We make them perform some experiments from Bal Vaigyanik/Maharashtra
textbooks.
5. Try to get them interested in doing experiments and in science in
general. e.g. point (5) and (6) of KRT workshop - reading and discussion.
