Special Issue: Organs-on-Chips for Toxicology and Animal Alternatives

Mechanically active “organ-on-a-chip” microdevices that reconstitute
tissue-tissue interfaces critical to organ function can expand the capabilities
of cell culture models and provide low-cost and more informative alternatives
to animal toxicology studies. With simplified designs and careful choice of
biocompatible device materials, they can be useful for high-content analysis
and screening of cellular responses to drugs, chemicals, particulates, toxins,
pathogens, or other environment stimuli relevant to pharmaceutical, cosmetic,
and environmental applications, and these methods will be highlighted in an
upcoming special issue of Applied In Vitro
Toxicology<http://click.liebertpubmail.com/?qs=47a4356619ef6d4668bf8034620c82aaca8335fe11f1c02f641cb9dfd9cedf89b3514fb360ed23cc>.
Original and review articles are sought in the following general categories:

* Organs-on-Chips
* Microphysiological Systems
* Animal Alternatives
* Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells
* Biomimetic Devices

The deadline for manuscript submission is December 1, 2015.
