Francois and John, could you please try PDF export on your Pi3 machines
with the "Use compression" option switched off? If my hypothesis is
correct, then this should work. Admittedly, switching off internal PDF
compression is not a good workaround for production use, since it will
create huge PDF files.
Can you also try PDF *import* please? Any simple PDF file should do. If
my hypothesis is correct, then this should go wrong on the Pi3, too.

I confirme your intuition. When disabling compression, export to pdf
works. "Import" from PDF loops endlessly until forced to stop with
Alt-Break.
OK, then it is clear what the problem is. Yes, these problems are to be
expected on a Pi3, because it uses an ARMv8 processor. Some of the helper
programs used by PDF export and import are not ARMv8 compatible. I will try
and issue a patch, but I cannot make any promises as to when this will
become available. Please note that ArtWorks 2.X3 has only been marketed as
being ARMv7 compatible.
