If I were to be working on this, for suitably large motors, I would take a
small fraction (10%?) of the HTP and decompose it in a pre-preburner, with
say water/permanganate so it's not wearing out catalyst beds. Then in same
preburner add excess fuel to burn hypergolically in the hot ox steam, and
create fuel rich gas output.
A similar route was followed several years ago in a General Kinetics hangar:
proof of concept tests, large setup, around 4-7 years ago. Please Google for
videoclips of it, I think there are gone by now. I sent that website to AR
once: no feedback.
GK reported it worked. End of story.
They knew better than to use ancient permanganate so GK decomposed a
preburner HP fraction (thermally or using a screen cat pack; mono mode 1),
this preburner exhaust stream heat thermally decomposed the main HP fraction
injected next (mono mode 2). Finally kerosene was sprayed in the decomposed
HP main fraction gas in which it ignited spontaneously (bi mode).
