asbestos?

Asbestos is fibers of a few specific silicates. By itself, you can weave cloth out of it (should you be suicidally inclined :-) ) but it's not a structural material. Embed the fibers in a matrix material to make a composite and it has some structural strength, but what material do you use as the matrix?
