I believe helicopter recovery /is/ the real plan, but how will the stage
survive re-entry?

Perhaps they are expecting the first phase to fail and be a learning
experience and the mid-air helicopter catch is the real plan.

Is there going to be a deceleration burn?
If not, why would Rocket Lab have any more luck than SpaceX did?
Does it
stage significantly lower and slower? Is the problem easier at
smaller
scale? Is it the carbon-composite construction?
