From what I just learned, once it is "imported" by a US citizen it becomes an 
ITAR/EAR/OFAC.... item and subject to our, US, export rules even though it's 
originally from some other country.  Makes things a PITA because you can easily 
export something you didn't even realize you imported.

I heard Art Dula and company got into trouble with bringing in Russian 
hardware, but I thought the problem was in trying to return it to Russia.  (It
