Does anyone have any sense of how fast AP/HTTP/Al can be made to
reliability burn at reasonable pressure (say 1000 psia)?
I’m noting that if one could get around 9-10” / sec. an end-burning
grain might makes sense with rather significant effects on propellant
fraction for sounding rockets....

We played with Catocene as a burning rate modifier once. It dramatically
increases the burning rate. Unfortunately it also increases
sensitivity... so better stay below 2%. There are other organic iron
compounds with better properties though (Catocene tends to migrate to
the surface over time which significantly changes the local burning
rate, which can lead to an explosion) . As an US you shouldn't have a
problem to find a supplier. For all others, Alibaba is your friend :-)

aviation" (Igor Sikorsky)
