Has anyone else had the problem where using PDFtest takes down something
else? It's happened to me several times over the weeks. There are two
broad patterns:
a - Do something with PDFtest and another app quits, but everything else
remains and the machine seems stable.
b - Do something with PDFtest and an XXX has gone wrong message appears
where XXX is not PDFtest. Click Quit and another error comes up from
something else, another App, the Filer or whatever, ... and so on until I
give up and reset the machine.
On most occasions I am not entirely sure what the actual sequence of key
strokes and clicks was, but it has just happened and I know exactly what
they were:
I was composing a message with Pluto about an open PDF document. Having
written a comment about p10 I wanted to search the whole document for a
word so I needed to go back to page 1. I put the cursor in the page field
of the PDF window, pressed delete once to change 10 into 1, and then
pressed Enter. The PDF should have changed to page 1 but it didn't.
Instead, Pluto instantly quit, and the PDF window remained on page 10.
Andrew is in the picture with this but can't do much since far I haven't
found enough of a pattern to make a coherent report, despite it having
happened several times - hence this request to see whether anyone else
has experienced it, from which a pattern might emerge.
