Hi folks!

Bit of an early Christmas present, this. I've uploaded a new build of
the OS to the ARMini private users' web site, as per usual.

This is called ARMiniOS2beta/zip

Use it as normal to update your OS - instructions are displayed when
you run the updater.

The big change is that there is now working CD/DVD support for USB
drives, including the internal ones which we have supplied with some
ARMinis. We are also able to offer these as a user-fit upgrade kit if
you'd like to add an optical drive to your ARMini.

To use a CD drive, you may need to configure a CD drive via !Boot -
double click !Boot and go to Discs and configure a CD drive. Once
configured, remember to run !WriteCMOS in Utilities.Caution to save
your CMOS settings.

The new OS build also has automatic CMOS saving in it, but there have
been reports of possible problems with this, which is why I've marked
this update as a "beta", rather than full release. However, we'd
encourage users with optical drives to give it a whirl, as it does
work very nicely :)

Both data CDs and DVDs will be readable, although music playback might
require a player which reads data digitally, as modern drives no
longer have analogue audio connections. Note that many DVDs will use
the UDF format which isn't currently supported on RISC OS. However,
ISO format DVD discs should be fine. Writing is supported via CD/DVD
burn (get the latest build from Steffen Huber).

Enjoy!

Andrew
