I have external speakers with built-in amplifiers connected to a Yamaha
audio mixer which a number of computers plug their sound output into, each
with their own audio level control. Has worked a treat for years. You
have to decide how many inputs and what type of inputs you want before
choosing the right model of mixer for your requirements.
