allows only a total of 8 drives, BUT this is subdivided in to 4

That messes up my idea of 4 partitions and still allow other filecore
discs to be plugged in via USB!
So I decided to drop to 3 partitions on the 1TB drive, so I could still
achieve my plan, but it seems the 'gpttest' formatter is a stupid in that
can take a parameter for the number of partitions but this then divides
the discs size by that number but DOESN'T limit the filecore partitions to
a maximum 256 GB, which I believe is the maximum limit accessible via
Filecore.
So running 'gpttst 3' gives 3 filecore partitions at 309 Gbytes each!
Surely, if 256GB is the limit it would be sensible for gpttst to only
format the required number of partitions up to this?
Does gpttst have any other command line parameters to set things?
-OR- as another alternative, can I format to 4 partitions and somehow mark
one of them as not being there by changing values in the partition table?
Not that I would actually know how to do that.
I don't suppose any linux partition managers recognise Acorn Filecore
partitions and would allow then to be resized?
Hope someone can offer any suggestions.
