I believe RISC OS is still stuck in the dark ages, and a file system
allows only a total of 8 drives, BUT this is subdivided in to 4
'fixed' discs and 4 'dismountable' discs. On adfs for example, drives
0-3 are 'floppy' drives and 4-7 are fixed drives.
