It pretty much *is* the ROOL version, with some build twiddles.
Anyway, I wonder if it has already been discussed and identified? There's
been a recent thread on the ROOL forum about ancient versions of ABC being
very slow, which was down to an unfortunate use of OS_SynchroniseCodeAreas
which has since been rectified. Maybe this could be a similar issue; the
speeds sound similar?
AS the OS develops to better support new hardware, sometimes old assumptions
made by software become invalid, or previously invisible bugs get
discovered. It's the same process as the one that we went through to get on
to the StrongARM, or to go 32-bit the first time.
The solution is to keep our software updated when new versions get made
available. Seeing take-up of new versions encourages developers to continue
to bother to fix and improve stuff, and paid-for things like the DDE go back
into helping the platform develop further.
