In theory it makes the default full spread patches more efficient.
Since you're not using this though (-I flag, and the -A isn't doing
anything with perceptual space body centered cubic), it won't make
any difference.

argyll-targen -v -d 3 -G -e 8 -g 16 -f 324 -c ${FILENAME}_tmp.icc ${FILENAME}

would make use of the pre-conditioning profile (you're better without -s I
think since OFPS will distribute test points more effectively).
