[argyllcms] Problems with i1 display LT -- far too pink

Hello ArgyllCMS people

I'm a bit new to this calibration and profiling lark, so please bear with me.

I've got:
* an i1 (aka eye-one) display LT colorimeter
* a Dell Latitude D810 laptop, with ATI Mobility Radeon x600 graphics, running Debian 6.0
* ArgyllCMS 1.3.5

The problem boils down to the fact that when I start with the screen in its standard setting (and looking fine), run 'dispcal -yl -v d810', and choose the White Point settings, it always says:

   ... DE 2K 24.8  R+  G-- B-

suggesting that the screen is far too green, which it isn't. If I ignore that, and get it to 'Continue on to calibration', it produces a .cal file that turns the screen very pink.

I've also tried the same setup on my main computer, running Ubuntu 10.10, which has two LCD screens: I get the same result on each screen -- it wants to make everything pink.

I last toyed with ArgyllCMS and the same colorimeter about three years ago, and then I got some good results. For some reason I can't repeat that. Could it be that the i1 is faulty, and doesn't detect green light properly? It's been kept carefully in its box in the interim.

(I also tried on the laptop running Windows XP and the i1's own software -- it gave up saying "Invalid gamma values".)

Any suggestions?

regards

Chris
