Hi Martin,

After careful analysis and comparison, the two methods are not
interchangeable.

On the one hand, TVIs @50% calculated from XYZ SWOP2006 data, gives:

Cyan 17.2%
Magenta 17.2%
Yellow 16.0%

Based on linear dataset for press X, the plate curve adjustments are as
follows.

Plate curves calculated to achieve XYZ TVI aim points result in:

50%C -> 54.79%
50%M -> 48.44%
50%Y -> 48.50%

Plate curves calculated for SWOP2006 Lab aim points on individual CMY scales
result in:

50%C -> 56.9%
50%M -> 49.2%
50%Y -> 42.7%

Big difference in yellow.

So aiming for specific dot gain values is not equivalent to aiming for
specific Lab value.

Best / Roger
