I have one little remark on the eye-one pro. You write:
"The lowest cost package is the Eye-One Design LT (formerly Eye-One
Design)". According to the xrite site the design has an mspr on $995
USD the photo lt has an mspr on $895. The Eye-One Photo LT includes
all the hardware without the eye-one beamer holder. There is a
comparisons chart here:

, but I don't know who stable the url is.
In the above chart there is no package that includes the eye-one
display2 as you write, and why should they?

And for other in US/Canada it's again a chance to pick up the Eye-one
photo lt, for as low as $500 after rebate:
