Not really, no.
One of my (too) numerous questions is, is 8-bits RGB data the same for my
digital tv as it is for my NEC 27" display, connected to my PC through the
DVI port?
Maybe. Standard video levels are 16 to 235 in 8 bit RGB, and similar
but slightly different for CbCr in a YCbCr signal. These offsets
get scaled by shifting (i.e. a power of 2) for higher bit depths.
Often this encoding difference will be taken care of automatically by the
Video card and TV, but if not there is a confusion of ways to manually
fix it. Often both the Video card and TV will have manual overrides
(typically with cryptic labels), and then ArgyllCMS/DispCAL has a
software override too. Figuring this out when it isn't working
can take some careful detective work.
