If your aim is to make a better matching proof under the actual viewing
illuminant, then yes - that's what the -f or -i options are intended for.
Thanks for fielding my question.
On one hand, I have the proof coming out of my crummy Epson printer, simulating
some "printing condition".
On the other hand, I have a press CMYK target spectral data, calibrated to some
standard.
In a perfect "D50" world, I would not bother looking for ways to improve the
proof to press match and stick with D50-based profile conversions.
But, I wonder, to what extent the actual viewing illuminant, used at the press
console, throws the appearances off?
I have plenty on my plates, it seems 😊
