HI Gin,
I sent your question to our oncology dietician. Here is her reply:
When patients are having bowel incontinence after radiation, We could consider
recommending a low fiber diet. Sometimes the docs will prescribe Metamucil for
bulking.
I would recommend referral to the RD to best determine this individual’s needs.
There are oncology certified dieticians. If you do not have one at your
facility the patient can call her insurance carrier for a referral or go to
https://www.healthprofs.com/us/nutritionists-dietitians/cancer/
Here is a website that has some good info on it as well.

I hope this helps.

I’m relatively new to cancer care so sorry if this seems a little ignorant but
I have a patient that has been suffering from increasing bowel incontinence
after radiation for a rare vulvar cancer. She eats pretty healthy but doesn’t
necessarily complain of urinary incontinence, just bowel. We work on pelvic
floor control (the knack, different types of contractions, etc) but I didn’t
know if I should recommend a certain diet? She’s worried the cancer is back and
has a follow up with her gyne cancer doc in a few weeks, but I know the doc and
not sure she’ll know what to do or say.
Any advice is welcome!
Gin
