Someone asked me to distribute the Christmas letter from the Wi¹am Conflict
Resolution Center that I mentioned Sunday in my meditation. So here it is.

While I¹m at it, here¹s a link from yesterday¹s news about the building boom
in settlements on the West Bank during the last three months.

Looking forward to Christmas Eve service, and to caroling in the darkness.

Steve

Snippets from *Seeing,* by José Saramago (1922-2010).

"It is the unvarying rule for those in power that, when it comes to heads,
it is best to cut them off before they start to think, afterward, it might
be too late."

"One can show no greater respect than to weep for a stranger."

"The time always comes when we discover that we knew more than we thought we
did..."

"Everyone else present bowed their head, then an admonitory look reduced to
silence, for the rest of the meeting, the rash person who appeared to be
ignorant of a basic tenet of social behavior which teaches that in the house
of the hanged man, one should never mention the word rope."
