This is something that I was mentioning last Sunday during Sunday School. ----- Forwarded Message ---- From: Alan Reberg <ajreberg@xxxxxxxxx> To: rmc-a@xxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, September 22, 2007 11:54:10 AM Subject: [RMC] - The Starvation Project & Conscientious Objectors ============================== Hey RMC, Another exemplary story of the WWII conscientious objectors! Do any of us have relatives who participated in the Minnesota Starvation Experiment? Be Peace, Al. The Starvation Project http://tinyurl.com/35eqyd The Starvation Project During World War II, Henry Shollberg, and 35 others, agreed to starve for six months as part of the Minnesota Starvation Experiment. It was an avenue for conscientious objectors to serve, but not engage in battle. The experiment lasted a year: 12 weeks of prep time; 24 weeks of near-death starvation; and another 12 weeks to bulk them back up. Their experience has been captured in an American Radio Works documentary called, "Beyond Belief." We'll talk to reporter and host Stephen Smith about this bizarre ordeal with starvation. See the text or listen to the story at --> "Beyond Belief," from American Radio Works A Duty to Starve http://americanradioworks.publicradio.org/features/wwii/
