Nancy, Since you sent me a list, I thank you by sending back some slogans. The following list is one that I received by e-mail: Here is a list of the most creative and humorous slogans I saw on the street at yesterday's (Feb 15) peace rally: Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld: Axis Of Diesel Draft The Bush Twins George Dubya: Weapon Of Mass Distraction Go Solar, Not Ballistic God Does Not Bless Only America Has Anyone Seen Our Constitution Lately? How Many Lives Per Gallon? If War Is The Answer We're Asking The Wrong Question Killing Innocent People Is The Problem, Not The Solution Let's Try Preemptive Peace Most of Humanity Is Downwind Our Grief Is Not A Cry For War Peaceful Solution Not Daddy's Retribution Rich Man's War Poor Man's Blood Smart Bombs Don't Justify Dumb Leaders Somewhere In Texas a Village Has Lost Its Idiot Stop Mad Cowboy Disease War Is SO 20th century What If God Blesses Iraq? Who Would Jesus Bomb? -- Karl Shelly I used a couple of slogans from your list (the first two) to make signs for the Austin Center for Peace and Justice (ACPJ) and for the Austin Mennonite Church (the denomination I was raised in and the one I began re-attending since 9-11), and some added ones plus a new list I got today (How's that for a run-on sentence): Anything war can do, PEACE can do better! War is expensive, peace is priceless! Peace: A Force More Powerful Make Peace by Doing Justice Loving one's enemy, the ultimate test of faith! A pre-emptive strike violates international law A pre-emptive strike turns the world against us A pre-emptive strike violates "just war" principles Peaceful alternatives are never exhausted Any idiot can start a war; making peace requires intelligence The rule that the ACPJ had for its members: No matter how much we'd like to, no demonizing of individuals--it is a tactic that we don't endorse. Well, it turns out that I agree with that even though I have been guilty of it many times in the past. I carried a sign with the last two messages. I was afraid that lady who is the "Is-that-really non-violent" cop might object to the last message, so I asked her. She smiled and said, of course not--you are not demonizing any particular individual--it is a sound abstract concept. If it happens to fit our current president and most of his cabinet, well, that's their problem." I love her--she is so wise! Thanks for thinking of me, Ray
