*Your Gifts at Work *
Miguel Rivera, of Ponce, Puerto Rico, had a devastating car accident 14
years ago and has been confined to a wheelchair ever since. Then in
September 2017, Hurricane Maria damaged his home beyond repair.
MDS volunteers have built Miguel a two bedroom house that is wheelchair
accessible and is hurricane and earthquake resistant. Miguel's unbelief
turned to tears of joy and gratitude as he watched the volunteers build his
home. "MDS came like angels from heaven, when no one wanted to help me,"
Miguel told us. "Hope arrived when I didn't expect it."
The service of MDS volunteers inspired Miguel to clean up his life. He has
been attending church and is building relationships with local MDS
volunteers.

MDS in Lake Isabella, CA

MDS Crew Leader Lynn Miller invited friends to Lake Isabella, California,
to tackle a unique project - rebuild a house on a hillside. MDS volunteers
rose to the challenge to help Darrel & Linnea after they lost their home to
the 2016 Erskine Fire.

It is not a stretch to say that disaster survivors who receive assistance
from MDS volunteers lift many prayers to God in thanksgiving for the
assistance they receive. I am reminded in 2 Corinthians 9:12 where Paul
writes, “This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of
the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to
God.” I heard these words of affirmation in Puerto Rico last week. It came
from a pastor whose church and parsonage was rebuilt and from a homeowner
who was in a wheelchair most of his life. Since then, he has regained hope
and a new zeal for living and is walking with a walking cane. May we be
encouraged!
