Can?t help this weekend?
Hands on Housing can use your help every day of the year. Call to find out
more info!

The average age of a Hands on Housing homeowner is a female 77 years old
and receives an income of $6,352 annually

For the interreligious community the work of peace, compassion and social
justice begins at home. This weekend, people of many different faiths will
be working together to rebuild the homes of the poor in East Austin. When
the interfaith community comes together they are usually wearing varied
colored clothes, headdresses and robes. This weekend however they will all
be in similar uniform: T-shirts and blue jeans. Their common purpose is to
relieve the suffering of those living in substandard and dangerous housing
conditions.

"Hands on Housing fills a critical need: helping those living in
substandard EXISTING housing. Many people do not realize that elderly,
disabled, and working poor families in our city may have to cope with the
lack of such basic things as a kitchen or bath, or walls that keep out,
wind, water, and dirt. The great thing about Hands on Housing is that it
provides connections between those more fortunate and those less fortunate,
by allowing them to serve one another according to their gifts and willing
hearts."

Community Mentoring Network
The effectiveness of mentoring has been proven:
· Mentoring can help more students stay in school, have better
grades, and improved social skills.
· Mentoring is also an effective means of helping youth with
antisocial behaviors to practice better coping skills and help to prevent
the cycle of repeatedly getting in trouble at home and in the community.
What are you waiting for?
Be a mentor to a youth that needs your help and guidance.
Contact John Williams at 386-9145X15 or johnw@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx to learn more
about how to begin your mentoring journey.

AAIM?s 2003 Wish List
· AAIM is in need of volunteers with fundraising experience or time
to help us work on a special event. Fundraising is a great way for AAIM to
gain important exposure in the community as well as raising money for our
many programs. Anyone with event planning or volunteer experience would be
a valuable asset to our organization.

· New or used conference table preferably with seating for 10-12
people.

· A volunteer professional picture hanger.

· Office help/database entry.

Congratulations!
Congratulations to Wayne Ewen former Outreach Coordinator with the AAIM
