Mennonite Women USA
A Postcard and a Prayer
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
May all be well
The staff of Mennonite Women USA recently enjoyed a two-day retreat at The
Hermitage,
Three Rivers, MI.  Input from spiritual retreat director Naomi Wenger guided us
in listening to the silence around us and in us.    This quote by Julian of
Norwich
(approximately 1342 - 1416), inspired us,   and we pray that it will speak to
you
as well. Julian claimed this was said to her by God and reflects her theology of
 a loving and merciful God. May all be well.
Coming in Timbrel - Hands
We've already received responses to our sister question for the upcoming issue
of
Timbrelon "Hands." Here's a bit of what Florence Zehr from Waverly, IA shared
with
us about how she uses her hands each and every day: "My husband is diabetic so I
 give him four shots a day and because of glaucoma, drops in his eyes two times
a day." For more about how Florence and other Mennonite women use their
hands...look
for the summer issue of Timbrelin your mailboxes come July.
by posting your response to this question.
Have you ever experienced the gut-wrenching reality of how much you rely on your
 hands? Ever broken a finger or wrist? Burned a palm or lost a nail? How has
that
experience made you appreciate your hands and all they do?
Franklin Conference
Burning Bush, April 2013
Living in community is a strong component of Anabaptist theology. It is how
Mennonites
have defined their spirituality. Growing up in the church, community is so much
a part of my social and spiritual development it is difficult to imagine life
without
supportive and caring individuals.
Sometime ago I was in conversation with a dear sister friend discussing the
blessings
of community. She reflected that coming to faith as an adult in our church and
experiencing
community for the first time opened a whole new life for her...
Walk your Walk, Talk your Talk
Madeline Maldonado is  Associate pastor at Iglesia Evangelica Menonita Arca de
Salvacion,
Ft. Myers
Father, Creator, and Savior,
As we look back at the sacrifice of your son
let us place full value on your redeeming sacrifice,
in our minds and hearts.
Everyday your children are challenged to forsake you,
led to believe that your word is a fable
and that you are not real.
But, let us forgive the infiltrating judgments of those who don't know you,
and let us carry out your justice.
As we celebrate the resurrection of our Savior,
lead us to give our lives for your purpose,
cleanse us every day from our sinful nature.
Let us give our lives as you did for the sake of others,
For we were forgiven without merit.
Let us walk your walk and talk your talk.
Let us be good stewards of the gifts you give.
Let us share your wealth with those who lack,
our land with those who can't live in peace in their own land.
Let us feed the hungry, clothe the poor, care for the children,
give hope to the widow, and minister to the veteran.
I pray that those of us who call ourselves your children,
That we may be an incarnation of you. Amen
