AAIM Voice

Crop Walk


Over 2,100 walkers participated in the Austin CROP WALK weekend in 2003 and the 
Austin CROP WALK Committee has already received over $136,000 from the event. 
Thank you Austin for making the 25th Anniversary Year a great success! 

 
The 2004 Austin CROP WALK Weekend: Ending Hunger One Step at a Time, is 
scheduled for Saturday & Sunday, March 6 and 7,  at Roy G. Guerrero Colorado 
River Metro Park, 800 Grove Boulevard.
 

Attend the RIO (Recruiters Information and Orientation) on Saturday, January 
17, 10 to 11:30 am at the Capital Area Food Bank, 8201 S Congress. Learn more 
about Austins largest interreligious family event, receive your walker packets 
and get your questions answered. Also receive tips for effective fund raising, 
visit with recipients of local CROP WALK funds, and celebrate what has been 
done to help feed the hungry.

ACC Adult Ed. Classes


Orientation sessions for new Austin Community College adult education classes: 
ESL, GED and Citizenship are scheduled for Jan. 12-15. To register for 
orientation and for specifics on the places and times of the classes, call 
223-5123 after Dec. 15.

Need of the Week


 The Cold Weather Shelter, sponsored by AAIM and the Capital Area Homeless 
Alliance, is in need of: blankets, gloves, toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine 
sanitary products, shampoo, soap and other hygiene items. Donations can be 
dropped at AAIM offices at 701 Tillery, Suite 8, until Dec. 19. To donate after 
that date or to volunteer to help out at the Cold Weather Shelter, call Emily 
Schneider at CAHA at 476-4396.
