When I did a bunch of them for a basket ball team, I used two sizes 6" and
8" for youth and adult shirts respectively. I placed them about 2-2.25"
from the back neckline and aligned it such that it was mid way on the
sleeve. For the younger one's I placed them a little higher.

I thought that Stahls had some help for you, but I came up almost
empty-handed. The only placement help I could quickly find from them was to
center the numbers between the side seams. Also to treat the number as a
unit when centering, like the number 81. (Hope this makes sense.)
Looking at the photographs in their catalog, it looks like numbers are
placed @ 1" below that line across the shoulder.

Hello all,
I need some advice on number placement on Youth Hockey jerseys.
These are 10" numbers. Should I go to 8" for the youth sizes?
As far as placement is concerned, should they be 1 inch below the seam that
is across the shoulder area?
I will be doing youth sizes S/M and L/XL, along with adult sizes S and M.
