Roland,

In the 14 years we have been in business we have only had a handful of customers asking about getting hats for $5 or whatever. I really don't worry about it too much. I still get plenty of work for people who like to support our country, state, county, city, etc. If everyone starts to go to China then there won't be a US anymore. You will always have some that go there but the majority know they need to stay here if we are going to survive and I don't just mean hats and embroidery. This is the least of my worries right now.

Subject: [amayausers.com] cap prices going nuts...

I didn't want to tie up a post on Amaya site...so I"m just using
freelist...
Aaron, other s I know do a lot of hats...
and the rest of us that should keep up on 'the competition'...
just got an email flyer from my adspecialty group I'm in...
UM Imports, ASI/92398

imported from china hats, now less than 3 week delivery...
6 panel light brushed twill, for example, WITH 7500 stitches...
1,000 minimum for 91¢....no misprint...additional stitches, 3 cents
per thousand.

And the price gets lower for higher quantity.

So if you get customers yanking your chain about finding
caps from other supplier, embroidered, for under $2 (commercial
'retail' price) they won't be kidding!
And of course-they will expect US to match this price or close to it
for their 72 piece order...no easy way to convince them that $7,8 or $9
per hat IS what they will pay!

They only see the bottom line price, not the high quantity to get it!
