Susan,

In Anchorage, we have a lot of companies that do internal fund raising
events and our local United Way office is always very pleased to allow us to
put thier logo on shirt or other promotional items along with the sponsoring
companies logo.

They usually come up with a unique design each year, so we are careful to
check with them each season to find out what that is, and to get all of the
proper specs for it. We then report to them who we've done shirts, etc. for
and they are always pleased that we're looking out for them and their
branding requirements.

The sponsoring companies are doing UW a huge service by raising money &
promoting their cause, so UW is happy to let most anyone use dual-branding.
I would just be careful to use the proper branding specs, and inquire as to
what the event is so that you don't end up inadvertently assisting someone
splashing the UW logo all over an event that the UW wouldn't be proud to
support.

The other huge plus to contacting the UW ex-affairs/communications office to
inquire as to the use of thier logo and the concern for branding
requirements, etc., is that we've gotten ourselves into a position of doing
a ton of work for them directly because they like the fact that we handle
their brand very carefully.

I think you'll be fine - just see if you can contact your local UW
Communications Director or External Affairs Department and ask their
permission along with all the right branding questions.

Good Luck...

Hi everyone,
What are the guidelines for using the united way
logo?? My husband's company is planning a golf outing
to raise money for United Way. They inquired about me
making shirts that they could sell to the participants
and also put that money towards their United Way
campaign.

Thanks,
Susan
