Barbara, I have hooped the hat but haven't sewn it yet. Was worried about it moving around. I was going to give it the old college try by hooping the sweat band. These are by Magic Headwear and the brim seems pretty flexible. I have a brain fade out, I actually sewed a test hat for another customer with this same type of hat. I hooped sweatband and then tucked the brim right into the bill clip of the hat hoop. But for the life of me I don't have a clear recollection of how the sample sewed out. It's heck to get old. The thing that was really a pain was the sides of the hat (the floppy rim) I had to curl it under the strap of the hoop by the left and right sides. The hats that I sewed on were from SanMar and the rim was quite flexible. It definitely wasn't easy...quite a struggle but I was able to do it and it came out surprisingly well. I actually didn't want to do the job at all because I thought there was no way it could be done but with plenty patience (which I lost quite a few times) I was able to do it. Is the rim of the hat very stiff? That may pose a problem if it is. If you can just curl the sides under so you can clamp down the strap you will be okay. Also, be careful getting it on the machine...that takes a lot of manipulating too. I wish I could give you step by step instructions as to how I did it, but it was defiantly a do whatever it takes kind of thing, and if it worked great. Have you tried hooping the hat yet? Barbara. -----Original Message----- From: amayausers-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:amayausers-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Cheryl Rotter Sent: Friday, May 05, 2006 10:19 AM To: amayausers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [amayausers] Re: Outback type hats with the new XT cap hoops Barbara, Did you hoop the sweatband? Has anyone had to sew these type of hats on the new XT cap hoops. My concern is that the older hoops had two straps to grab the sweatband and the new ones have only one strap. Comments anyone? Thanks. Cheryl Rotter Team Sports Ink 5111 Grumann Dr. Ste #1B Carson City, NV 89706 775-884-3550
