I have seen frayed thread somehow work it's way onto the needle bar and get sucked inbetween the needle bar and the bushing and it almost feels like it is welded together. Both times I have experienced this with customers machines, it required the needlecase to be removed and a drift punch to dislodge the needle bar from the bushing.....
